Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
The short version: Sprocket plays your own videos from your own Mac. The apps are free to use with a limited library size. Sprocket Pro is an optional subscription, billed by Apple, that renews automatically until you cancel it in Settings. Use the apps lawfully, and with videos you have the right to keep and watch.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Five Seven ("we", "us"), the maker of Sprocket. They cover the Sprocket app for Mac, the Sprocket app for iPhone and iPad, the Sprocket Pro subscription, and this website. By installing or using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. What Sprocket does
Sprocket organizes and plays video files that are stored on your own Mac, and streams them to your own paired iPhone and iPad. Sprocket does not provide any video. It does not host, store or back up your files. You are responsible for your files and for keeping your own backups.
3. Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the apps on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not resell, rent or sublicense the apps, remove their notices, or try to get around their licensing or technical limits, except where the law gives you a right that cannot be waived.
4. The apps and the free tier
The Sprocket app for Mac and the Sprocket app for iPhone and iPad are available through Apple's App Store at no charge. Without a subscription, Sprocket works with a library of up to a set number of videos. If your library is larger, the first a set number of videos by date added can be played, and the rest are shown but locked until you subscribe to Sprocket Pro. On your home network, streaming to your devices needs no subscription. Sprocket never alters, removes or uploads the files on your disk, with or without a subscription.
5. Purchases
The only thing we sell is the Sprocket Pro subscription, and it is sold only through Apple's in-app purchase. Apple processes every payment and every refund. We do not take payments ourselves.
6. Sprocket Pro subscription
Sprocket Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, bought in the app through Apple's in-app purchase. It removes the library size limit, lets you stream from your Mac when you are away from home, and includes the Insights and Calendar features. One subscription covers the Sprocket apps on your Mac, iPhone and iPad when they use the same Apple Account. There is no Sprocket account.
- Plans and prices. Sprocket Pro Monthly is $4.99 per month. Sprocket Pro Yearly is $39.99 per year. Prices are in US dollars and may vary by country. The price shown in the app at the time of purchase is the price you pay.
- Free trial. New subscribers may be offered a 7 day free trial. The trial becomes a paid subscription at the price shown unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Eligibility is determined by the App Store.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Apple bills you, not us.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, under your name, then Subscriptions, or in your App Store account settings on your Mac. If you cancel, Sprocket Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Apple handles billing and refunds, under Apple's terms. To ask for a refund, contact Apple.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, you will be told in advance as Apple's rules require, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
7. How Sprocket Pro connects, and the relay allowance
Sprocket Pro connects your iPhone or iPad directly to your Mac whenever the networks involved allow it. A direct connection streams at original quality and is not counted against any allowance.
When a direct connection is impossible, your video is sent through an encrypted relay that we operate. Relayed video is limited to a rate of about 5 Mbit/s and to an allowance of up to 75 GB per month.
If you use the whole allowance, relayed streaming pauses until the allowance resets. Direct connections, streaming on your home network and downloaded videos are not affected.
Sprocket Pro depends on your Mac being awake with Sprocket open, on both devices having a working internet connection, and on networks we do not control. We cannot promise that a direct connection will be available on any particular network, or that streaming will be uninterrupted.
8. Acceptable use
You agree that you will:
- use Sprocket only with videos you have the right to keep and watch, and in line with the law where you live
- use Sprocket Pro only to reach your own library from your own devices, and not to share, resell or publicly distribute access to it
- not interfere with, overload or probe the meeting-point service or the relay, or try to get around the relay's rate or allowance
- not use the service to send anything other than Sprocket's own streaming traffic
We may limit or suspend access to Sprocket Pro's service for use that breaks these terms or that harms the service for others.
9. Your content and your privacy
Your videos and your library are yours. We do not have access to them. Video that leaves your home with Sprocket Pro is end to end encrypted between your own devices. The Privacy Policy explains what our service can and cannot see.
10. Changes to the apps and the service
We may update the apps, and add, change or remove features. We may change or end Sprocket Pro's service. If we end the service, we will stop renewals first.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using Sprocket at any time. Your license ends if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as the sections on warranty and liability, continue after it ends.
12. No warranty
The apps and the service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the apps or the service will be uninterrupted, error free or compatible with every file or network. Some places do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of this may not apply to you.
13. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, files, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the apps or the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Sprocket Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the apps or their content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for them. Your use of apps obtained from the App Store is also subject to Apple's terms for the App Store. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms for the iPhone and iPad app, and may enforce them against you.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Five Seven is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. Rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place where you live are not affected.
16. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. If a change is significant, we will give notice in the apps or on this website before it applies.
